countdown to the member's site

Well, the site is ready and is in Beta testing with a few selected subscribers. The most excitement seems to be reserved for the new videos I have made these past few months which are EXCLUSIVE to the Member's site.

Included among them is a video showing how easy it is to illustrate with Photoshop brushes, another that creates a cartoon character with Illustrator and Photoshop, a new hair selection video that picks the pieces out of a colored background, and a Photoshop montage that combines several images into one surreal scene.

These videos are all between one and two hours long.

In addition there are exclusive videos on how to make a duotone, a clipping path and other 'boring but essential' production matters.

Request time

By far the biggest drawcard of the Member's site is the ability of Members to request a video. I'm already receiving requests from subscribers to the newsletter (and have done for years), but from now on I will have to restrict my video responses to Members. The positive thing for you (Members) is that Member requests will be fulfilled.

I have to admit it's a scary thing to contemplate. While on the one hand I need to receive requests in order to have subject material for new videos, on the other the idea of receiving 700 requests in a week is slightly daunting.

Don't worry, if the demand gets that high, I have contingencies...

The Logo Handbook

Those 325 people who have availed themselves of the Reviewer's discount on the Logo Handbook should be receiving a request for comment any day now. Some have already come in and it seems everyone is being complimentary.

Don't be afraid to criticize, folks. The book can't be perfect. I know it fills a gaping hole in the market and tried very hard to make silk purses out of unsightly things, but there have to be flaws.

Get back to me as soon as you can.

For anyone who hasn't seen the book or taken advantage of the $30 discount, it will only remain for another week.

(The reviewer's discount is about three-quarters of the way down the page. Even with the discount there in plain view, some dozens of copies have sold for the full price!)

My new blog

The Lone Designer is born.

My new blog, designed specifically for graphic designers, web designers, artists, photographers and other creative people who WORK FROM HOME, is up.

You can see it here;

http://www.the-lone-designer.com

As the blog develops, I intend to provide support for people who create out of their spare room or a single office. In other words, creative people who are on their own. Already I have received a lot of material and suggestions, and these I indend to utilize in the forthcoming months.

If you have anything you want to contribute, subscribe to the blog and by all means join the community.

Looking forward to hearing from you on this one.

That's it for now.

cheers all
